I spend a lot of time in Business Central. Along the way I pick up things that are hard to find in the official docs, or tricks that save real time once you know them. Daxly is where I write those down.
What it is
A minimal blog focused on BC tips, how-to guides, and practical insights. No fluff, no enterprise marketing speak. Just useful posts for people who work with Business Central every day.
The stack
Astro handles the content and build. Posts are written in Markdown with frontmatter for metadata like tags, series grouping, and featured flags. The site is static and deploys to Cloudflare Pages.
A few things that make it more than a basic blog:
- Search powered by Pagefind, which builds a static search index at build time. Fast and no server needed.
- Post likes stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. A small Azure Function handles the API, with IP hash dedup to keep it honest.
- Series navigation for multi-part guides. Tag two or more posts with the same series name and they link together automatically.
- Reading time and table of contents generated from the content. Posts with three or more headings get a sticky sidebar TOC.
Design
Fraunces for display type, Instrument Sans for body text. Light theme with a warm palette. The goal was something that feels approachable without being distracting. You are here to read, and the design should help with that.
What is next
Dark mode, a newsletter, and a better background. The bones are solid, so now it is about content and polish.
